The Team: Ryan
It’s our final team member, the only one who usually gets paid to push himself this hard (for Queen and country) it’s Ryan 🗡
How do you know Davy?
I know Davy through Tommy, who shared a womb together. Tommy is marrying Jess who shared a womb with Charlotte, my wife. We met for the first time at a murder mystery party, got very drunk and became friends. .
Cycling History - Started with trikes, was constantly on a bike as a kid and have the scars to prove it. Cycled from London to Paris over 5 times for charity, have worked as a mountain bike instructor in Wales and Scotland. Since joining the Royal Marines I haven’t had opportunity to do as much as I would like; I would describe myself as an over enthusiastic amateur when it comes to endurance cycling. .
Funniest cycling story - On a commute to work I challenged myself to keep pace with a laundry van on a straight, head down legs pumping pushing hard to keep up, I managed to glance up in time to crash into the back of it. Thankfully my head and shoulder took the brunt, saving the bike.
The owner got out thinking a car had crashed in to the back. Once I had picked myself up (hoping no-one had seen), I looked up to see a police car had been following me and caught it all on the dash cam (they refused to allow me to watch it). .
Favourite cycling snack - Soreen bread .
Thoughts on the ride - I cant wait, I am thinking about it far more than I should. It’s the bloody height of Everest within 4 days! What a challenge, the scenery is going to be amazing, the lads doing it are excellent company, I just want one good weather day. Completing a big day in the saddle, then getting up and doing it all again, that’s tough mentally and physically.
However I’ll suffer happily in order to make MND history. What’s a little bit of pain…
