How you know Davy?
I went to uni with Tommy and we got to know each other through snowboarding. I crossed paths with Davy a few times at St Andrews - but often in a drunken confusion, convinced I was seeing double. .
Cycling history - As the 1st May approaches, I feel like my cycling history is not as long as I would like it to have been!! Growing up in the Highlands, most of the roads are fast main roads - so it was always mountain biking from a young age. I bought my road bike in May 2014, and have never looked back.
Funniest cycling story - In 2016, inspired by the Rio Olympics, Dan, Ryan, Tommy, Malcolm and I decided to do an ‘Olympic distance triathlon’. 1.5k Swim at the commonwealth pool, 40k lap of East Lothian on the bikes followed by a 10k run - we set off on our cycle. I was in prime fitness - but for some reason I just couldn’t keep up. 30K into the cycle - I was killing myself to maintain pace, when everyone else seemed utterly relaxed. I couldn’t even hold on to Ryan who was on a fat tired mountain bike...it wasn’t until Malcolm dropped back to have a look, and quickly pointed out that my wheel was buckled and I’d been riding with my back brake fully on... turned out I’d broken a spoke somewhere and hadn't realised. It was all okay though, I got them back on the run!!!

Fav cycling snack - Steak bake and fruit pastels
Thoughts on the ride - It’s a long way and I haven’t cycled anything like this far before - so it’d be wrong to say I wasn’t a little nervous (but I’m using that to motivate me on training). So far, every time I’ve cycled I’ve felt progressively stronger. I think the hardest thing to train for in Edinburgh are the hills - so I’m hoping to get at least another weekend riding in the highlands before the main event.
